How to write a bid in 500 words + Glasgow arts fund + other funds

A couple of clients have been selected for an invite-only round (hurrah!) and have to write their submissions in just 500 words (erk!). Writing to really short word counts can be really tricky, so here is the advice I gave to a subscriber.
